- ACCIONA and ACCIONA Energía have reached the top 5% of S&P Global’s ESG Score ranking in the S&P Sustainability Yearbook 2023.
- ACCIONA Energía, in its first full year of data reporting, is the most sustainable company in the utilities sector in Spain and the second most sustainable one in the world.
The S&P Sustainability Yearbook 2023 aims to recognize the companies that stand out in their sectors for the strength and consistency of their corporate sustainability strategy. For the preparation of this yearbook, S&P has evaluated more than 7,800 international companies from 61 business sectors, selecting the 708 companies with the best results.
These companies were analyzed through the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment questionnaire, which evaluates the economic, environmental and social performance of each company.
ACCIONA Energía scored 90 and ACCIONA scored 88 out of 100 total points in this questionnaire, in which responses are reviewed by the rating agency, using the companies’ public data and supporting documents.
ACCIONA and ACCIONA Energía are among the only six companies in the utilities sector and among the only nine Spanish companies overall to make it into the top 5%, consolidating their global leadership in sustainability.
ACCIONA Energía (96/100) and ACCIONA (94/100) rank first and second respectively in the global environmental criteria, mainly due to their performance in "operational eco-efficiency" (reduction of polluting emissions, efficiency in energy and water consumption, waste management, etc.). Both companies are among the highest-ranked in their sector for climate strategy, electricity generation and market opportunities.
