- GOAL: Acciona will have 100 charging stations across Spain by the end of the year, with over 1,000 battery swap units
- FOUR-YEAR STREAK: The brand has a 29.9% share of the retail electric scooter market in Spain, according to ANESDOR
ACCIONA's network of battery swap stations for Silence vehicles will have 100 charging stations in the main Spanish cities by the end of the year, with more than 1,000 battery swap units.
The accelerated deployment of battery stations for Silence vehicles is due to the brand's leadership in Spain for four years in a row. Silence motorcycles currently have a 29.9% share of the Spanish retail electric scooter market, according to the latest data published in September by the National Association of Companies in the Two-Wheeler Sector (ANESDOR).
The situation is not limited to the Spanish market: the S01 model has been at the top of the European market for four years, with a 22.7% share at the end of 2022. Including all models, the Silence fleet circulating on the continent exceeds 50,000 vehicles.
ACCIONA already has a network of 60 urban charging stations in Spain that enable a fast and easy replacement of batteries for Silence motorcycles.
Barcelona, with nine charging stations, and Madrid, with eight, are the cities that currently have the most stations in service, followed by Bilbao, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante and Vigo.
A FAST ALTERNATIVE
ACCIONA's battery station service makes it possible to buy a Silence motorcycle without the need to purchase the electric battery that powers it, reducing the cost of acquiring the vehicle by nearly 40%. This system allows customers to have a monthly battery subscription. All Silence vehicles use the same standard of removable and transportable trolley-like batteries.
The battery swap, as an alternative to do-it-yourself recharging at home or at the office, is the fastest power supply system: in less than 30 seconds, users can swap their battery for a fully charged one, without any waiting time. Thanks to an app developed by the brand, users can locate the nearest available battery and change it instantly.
Battery swap stations are always located in urban environments and in places accessible to vehicles. The most significant example is the battery station at the CEPSA service station in 221 Urgell Street in Barcelona; it is part of the two companies’ pilot program in ten locations. Next year, the aim is for the collaboration with CEPSA to exceed 30 battery stations.
In addition to CEPSA, oil company Shell has also installed two battery stations in Madrid and plans to expand the service to its own-brand service stations in the Canary Islands by the end of the year. Battery stations have also been installed in several public parking lots in Madrid and Barcelona. Acciona will also extend its network to all 35 Silence dealerships and many of the more than 150 points of sale that Silence has in Spain.
