- The strategic location of Garbera consolidate this shopping mall as a key hub for electric mobility in the region.
ACCIONA Energía and shopping malls owner Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) have completed the installation of 24 new electric vehicle charging points for public use at the Garbera shopping center in San Sebastián, making it the largest EV charging station in the province of Guipúzcoa.
The strategic location of Garbera, near the GI-20 and GI-40 highways —both with high traffic volumes— along with a significant number of visitors from France, consolidate this shopping mall as a key hub for electric mobility in the region.
In total, ACCIONA Energía has installed 24 chargers offering more than 1MW of charging capacity. Five of these are fast chargers with a power output of 120kW, capable of charging a vehicle from 20% to 80% in just 25 minutes. The other 19 are 22kW chargers designed for longer stays, providing efficient charging tailored to the needs of each user.
“People who drive electric vehicles can now make the most of their visit to Garbera, they can charge their car while shopping, dining, or enjoying the entertainment areas,” says Nuria Vegas, the shopping mall manager, who emphasizes that this service adds “extra value” to Garbera and enhances the customer experience. These new charging points are located in the outdoor parking area, close to one of the entrances near stores like Maison du Monde and JD Sports.
This project is part of a broader collaboration between URW and ACCIONA Energía, through which over 100 charging points will be installed in shopping centers across Spain during 2025. With this initiative, both companies strengthen their commitment to sustainability and electric mobility, investing in infrastructure that supports a cleaner, more efficient, and more accessible transportation model.
