Works of art from Spain’s recently inaugurated Royal Collections Gallery and other National Heritage treasures will be projected onto the façade of the Armory Courtyard of the Royal Palace in Madrid on the 26th and 27th of July in three nightly displays (at 22:30, 23:00 and 23:30), as a free show open to the public.

Designed and produced by ACCIONA Cultura and sponsored by ACCIONA, the show, which lasts about fifteen minutes, combines avant-garde lighting and videomapping techniques with a soundtrack created specifically for the event by the composer and winner of two Goya awards, Olivier Arson.

Paintings, tapestries and sculptures, as well as countless objects that the kings of Spain collected throughout history and that are now housed in the new Royal Collections Gallery (in a building designed by Mansilla + Tuñón Arquitectos), will be projected onto the Royal Palace thanks to mapping and laser technology, achieving an immersive 3D effect.

The audiovisual content will be spread across six scenes determined by six color parameters, the dominant ones in the Royal Collections: from white to gold, with shades of red, pink, black and blue. In this journey, the videomapping will show viewers pieces as diverse as a Rubens tapestry or the glassware of Ferdinand VII. Many of these pieces are scarcely known to the general public.

The music will be provided by Olivier Arson, a French composer and producer who has won two Goya awards for the original soundtrack of the films As Bestas (2022) and El Reino (2019), and will establish a close narrative link with the images.

CARBON NEUTRAL

The lighting and staging design, under the artistic direction of XLR Estudio, is based on visual effects related to the soundtrack. The lasers will act as a guide, emitting spots of light in line with the color of the projected artworks.

ACCIONA Cultura, which is in charge of the design and execution of this show, is a company specialized in the creation of museums, events, interiors and immersive experiences with an innovative and sustainable approach.

As part of ACCIONA and in line with the group's commitment to sustainability, the videomapping show at the Royal Collections Gallery will be CO2 neutral, reducing potential emissions from the event’s organization as much as possible and offsetting any that are released through the purchase of Emission Reduction Certificates, granted by the United Nations Framework Convention.
