• The transaction, which will involve a total investment of €220 million, positions the company as one of the leading operators in the sector in Latin America.

ACCIONA has reached an agreement with Darby International Capital to acquire its high-voltage transmission line business in Peru, in an investment worth €220 million. The acquisition positions ACCIONA as one of the main operators in the sector in Latin America.

The transaction gives ACCIONA access to a portfolio of more than 1,200 kilometers of high voltage transmission lines (500Kv and 220Kv) and 30 substations in the country. Among others, it includes the acquisition of the 30-year concession project "Machupicchu-Quencoro-Onocora-Tintaya", subject to the necessary approvals. The reactivation of this project, which includes 300 kilometers of transmission lines, on hold since 2016, will improve electricity connectivity in the south of the country when it comes into operation in 2028.

The agreement also involves the incorporation into ACCIONA of the unit’s engineering, procurement, construction and operation and maintenance teams, with proven experience in the management of more than 4,200 kilometers of transmission lines and 30 substations.

This purchase joins the concession contracts that ACCIONA is currently managing in Peru, which total 820 kilometers of high-voltage power lines and more than 20 substations.

EXPERIENCE

ACCIONA has extensive experience in the construction and management of transmission lines around the world. In the last twelve years, the company has developed more than 70 such projects. It is currently building the Humelink transmission line, one of the largest energy infrastructures in Australia, and will design and operate one of the country’s primary green energy distribution networks, Central West Orana.

In Peru, ACCIONA signed a concession contract in 2022 with the Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinversión) for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of two new electricity transmission networks (Reque-Nueva Carhuaquero, Nueva Tumbes-Tumbes). The project, in the north of the country, will benefit 1.3 million people.

In 2023, ACCIONA was awarded two other transmission lines: Ica-Poroma, in southern Peru, and Cáclic-Jaén, in the north.

In June of this year, ACCIONA was also awarded three other transmission concession projects totaling 400 kilometers of lines, six new substations and the modernization of six other existing substations.

ACCIONA has been present in Peru since 1998, where it has developed essential infrastructures like the control tower at the new Lima airport.

The company has recently been awarded the Peripheral Ring Road project, which includes the construction of a 34.5-kilometer urban highway in Lima and its subsequent operation and maintenance for 30 years.

ACCIONA Energía, ACCIONA’s renewable energy subsidiary, has put into operation its first wind farm in the country, San Juan de Marcona with 131.1MW of power, in Ica.
