• The São Paulo Metro Line 6-Orange project, currently the largest infrastructure project in Latin America, has been internationally recognized thanks to the sustainability criteria adopted by ACCIONA, the company responsible for its construction

ACCIONA, a global company that develops sustainable infrastructure solutions, has received the FAST-Infra Label for the practices adopted in the construction of Line 6-Orange of the São Paulo metro. This important certification recognizes projects committed to sustainability in 14 categories. Line 6-Orange is the first metro project in the world to receive this recognition, consolidating ACCIONA’s leadership in sustainable practices in the construction sector.

The FAST-Infra Label facilitates access to financing and investments focused on environmentally and socially responsible practices, adding value to ACCIONA’s portfolio with positive contributions that also support its socio-environmental commitment.

To obtain the label, environmental and social criteria, as well as resilience and project management, are evaluated in the different categories, with 5 positive contributions also highlighted. The commitment to social development and inclusion, reflected in gender equality and vocational training initiatives, is one of the highlights. For example, more than 900 women have already been recruited into the project, with the goal of strengthening female leadership and expanding gender equality in these positions.

Line 6-Orange’s environmental commitment initiatives have been recognized for promoting the circular economy through the reuse of uniforms and the use of recycled aggregates. Decarbonization focuses on the process of replacing equipment that traditionally uses fossil fuels with biofuels, such as ethanol and biodiesel, or, where possible, electric power.

It also highlights the rigorous management and assessment of risks associated with the project, as well as the continuous investment in occupational safety, with training and awareness-raising activities that promote a culture of prevention among its professionals.

Line-6 Orange, the largest infrastructure project underway in Latin America, will connect Brasilândia, in the northern part of the city of São Paulo, with São Joaquim Station, in the center of the capital. In total, there are 15.3 km of line with 15 stations, 18 ventilation shafts and emergency exits, control center, maintenance and train parking.

With this certification, ACCIONA consolidates its commitment to leading the transition to a regenerative infrastructure, confirming its role as a benchmark in projects that promote social progress and environmental conservation.
