ACCIONA IN THE PHILIPPINES

ACCIONA inaugurated its new headquarters in the Philippines in Manila in 2019, the second in Southeast Asia after Singapore. The company entered the country in 2016 with the contract to design, build, operate and maintain for one year the Putatan II brackish water treatment plant, a €90 million project to serve an area of nearly six million people.

Subsequently, the company was awarded major projects, such as the construction of two sections of the railway line that will connect the town of Malolos with Clark International Airport, 80 kilometers north of Manila, or the construction of Lot 2 of the Southern Suburban Railway project, which includes the construction of 7.9 kilometers of track on a viaduct, as well as three stations (España, Santa Mesa and Paco) in Manila.

The company has also been responsible for the construction of one of the country’s most emblematic infrastructures, the 650-meter cable-stayed bridge in Cebu, which was inaugurated in April 2022.

ACCIONA’s UTE (joint venture) also recently won the contract to build an aircraft parking apron at Basa Air Base for NAVFAC (Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Pacific), the US Navy’s Engineering Systems Command.

In the Philippines, acciona.org, the group’s corporate foundation, is carryout its “Electricity at Home El Nido” project, which consists of installing photovoltaic systems in homes in the town of El Nido, in the province of Palawan, where more than 600 families have already benefited.
