- Pilot project to power the construction huts at the New Container Terminal in the Port of Cadiz
ACCIONA, partnered by the Australian company Black Stump Technologies, has launched a pilot project to power the construction huts at the New Container Terminal in the Port of Cadiz, reducing CO2 emissions.
The initiative, which will last approximately six months, consists of the installation of a diesel-photovoltaic hybrid solar generator with a power equivalent to a 27kVA diesel unit. The system, which replaces the 250kVA diesel unit that previously powered the camp, consists of 6kWp solar panels, a battery system with a capacity of 45kWh, and an integrated 17kVA diesel generator that only comes on when the output of the integrated panels is unable to meet the site’s energy needs and the battery reaches a charge level below a pre-set value.
In line with its decarbonization policy, ACCIONA is committed to reducing emissions from the electrical generators used in its works, which is why it has implemented this pilot project, estimated to save 15,000 liters of diesel and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 42 tons.
