- Another year, ACCIONA launches a World Water Day campaign to raise awareness around the responsible use of water, highlighting desalination and daily savings through interactive challenges.
Coinciding with this year’s World Water Day, ACCIONA is launching an awareness-raising campaign to encourage the responsible use of water, reminding us that it is a scarce resource. The initiative highlights desalination as an innovative solution and focuses on people’s critical role in saving water on a daily basis.
The campaign is divided into two parts. First, it asks the question: “Would you shower with sea water?”, enhancing desalination as a key process to ensure drinking water supplies in areas where water is scarce. Nowadays, around 300 million people worldwide use desalinated water for showers. ACCIONA is a global leader in desalination, driving innovative technologies that allow seawater to be obtained with the smallest possible environmental footprint, thereby ensuring its long-term sustainability.
The second focus is on the importance of individual actions by promoting small everyday gestures to reduce water consumption. The campaign encourages people to shower mindfully, using the slogan: “Are you up for the challenge? You have 3 minutes to take a shower”.
The ‘Shower Challenge’ consists of questions related to saving water and desalination, plus a mobile mini-game with an interactive timer that encourages users to take showers of less than 3 minutes. For children, a downloadable comic about saving water has been created. The campaign also features signage and outreach in social media, as well as an interactive TikTok filter.
