• The primary goal of this program is to reinvest a percentage of the company’s profits into projects that enhance the quality of life for residents in the communities where the projects are located.

ACCIONA Energía, a global leader in renewable energy, has reaffirmed its commitment to the social and community development of the areas where it operates by donating educational supplies to the schools part of the Professor Francisco Honrado Pereira Group, located near the Amareleja solar farm in the municipality of Moura, Portugal.

This initiative is part of ACCIONA Energía’s Social Impact Management program, which is implemented across all its renewable energy facilities. The primary goal of this program is to reinvest a percentage of the company’s profits into projects that enhance the quality of life for residents in the communities where the projects are located.

During 2023, ACCIONA Energía invested more than 4 million euros in over 200 social initiatives, benefiting around 300,000 people.

In the specific case of Amareleja, the donation includes workbooks and educational materials that will benefit children and young people in the local communities, as well as an economic award for the best class of each promotion. This effort not only aims to support education in the region but also to contribute to the overall well-being of the families in these communities.

“At ACCIONA Energía, we firmly believe that the transition to a more sustainable future must go hand in hand with social commitment and support for the communities where we are present,” stated Alexandre Kisslinger, CEO of ACCIONA Energía in Portugal. “Through this and other initiatives, we want to ensure that the benefits of our facilities translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives.”

The Amareleja solar plant, one of the largest in Portugal, not only generates clean and sustainable energy but also drives social and economic development in the region. With actions like this, ACCIONA Energía reinforces its role as a key player in creating a more equitable and sustainable future, committed to environmental protection and to the well-being of local communities.

ACCIONA Energía has 166MW of renewable generation assets in Portugal, including 16 wind farms and the Amareleja Solar Power Plant. The company also commercializes clean energy with 100% renewable Guarantees of Origin certificates issued by the EEGO (Entidade Emissora de Garantias de Origem) platform of the National Electricity Grid (REN), which is also part of the European Energy Certificate System.
