WATER FOR AGRICULTURE: REUSE AND DESALINATION AS SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS

In Spain, 80% of water consumption is for agricultural purposes, around 20,000 Hm3/year being used for irrigation. ACCIONA, as a leader in the end-to-end water cycle, focuses on sustainable and innovative technologies to guarantee the water supply for agriculture and the irrigation associations. Its aim is to improve the quality of service and reduce costs by financing all types of work and ensuring the sale of energy at a long-term fixed price. At ACCIONA, Water for Agriculture is divided into three sections:

We use desalination and reuse as a way of supporting the development of sustainable agriculture. These methods allow us to obtain irrigation water which comes with many different benefits, such as: its quick availability, being environmentally friendly, extending the use of the water already used and generating additional water resources.
