Hydroelectric energy was one of our very first steps in the energy sector and provided us with solid experience in this renewable technology, both in evaluating the resource and in the design, construction, operation and management of facilities.

 

We currently own 52 hydroelectric power plants located in different river basins throughout Spain, with a combined capacity of 693 MW (same consolidated figure).

The hydroelectric pumping station at Ip, built and operated by ACCIONA, stores clean energy in order to free it when needed through a high-pressure gallery and pipework with a head of over 900 meters.
