United Nations Global Compact

ACCIONA regularly participates in events and initiatives organised by WBCSD. In 2022, it hosted a workshop at its headquarters for the “Built Environment” task force, bringing together around thirty experts from across the globe to discuss medium- and long-term challenges and opportunities in sustainable building.

The company also joined the pilot task force “TFND” to share its experience in implementing a pilot project under the TFND framework.

ACCIONA remains active in the “Policy, Advocacy and Member Mobilisation” (PAMM) task force, which aims to mobilise businesses to address globalisation, climate, nature, and equity issues, aligned with the WBCSD Vision 2050.

ACCIONA also took part in the annual WBCSD Delegates Meeting 2022 held in Switzerland, where international experts worked on innovative business solutions across sectors and value chain.

Additionally, ACCIONA contributed its perspective on critical raw materials at the WBCSD Council, discussing the implications of a shifting geopolitical landscape.

With the support of CLG Europe, ACCIONA played a key role in the creation of the Spanish Green Growth Group (Grupo Español para el Crecimiento Verde). This initiative was established to foster collaboration between companies and governments, create a roadmap (Barcelona Declaration) toward a low-carbon economy, and integrate climate policies into business strategies, ultimately as a green growth model in Spain should be.

In recent years, the Spanish Green Growth Group has experienced significant growth, with more than 50 companies joining. ACCIONA actively contributed to this expansion, holding the position of Secretary General and leading the Energy Transition Working Group.

GRUPO ESPAÑOL PARA EL CRECIMIENTO VERDE

ACCIONA has been a full member of CLG Europe since 2009. This initiative brings together European business leaders who recognise the urgent need to develop long-term policies to address climate change.

In 2022, ACCIONA signed a letter promoted by CLG Europe urging the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, and EU Parliament members to expedite the transition to a green and decarbonised economy. The letter included examples, such as ACCIONA Energía, to demonstrate how European companies are already equipped to provide decarbonised solutions.

ACCIONA also actively participated in tasks forces and strategic meetings organised by CLG Europe during the year.
