The company works to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in order to contribute to the progress of society and respond to the main challenges of sustainable development in the areas of infrastructure, water and energy, leading the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The objective is to bring the river above the dissolved oxygen levels that are accepted worldwide as indicators of decontaminated rivers, allowing for the recovery of riverbank spaces that can be used for recreation and urban and landscape development.
The plant treats wastewater from the municipalities of Medellín and Bello that reaches the plant through the Bello Interceptor before being discharged. The plant receives some 120 tons of organic matter daily from industrial, commercial, and residential wastewater.
