Since 2011, ACCIONA has been in charge of the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the facility for 25 years.

The Fouka plant is a reverse osmosis desalination plant located in Wilaya de Tipaza, a few kilometers west of Algiers. The water produced by the plant supplies the Tipaza area and the western part of Algiers through existing networks. The desalination plant guarantees water supply to a population of 800,000 inhabitants. Construction began in April 2008.

The catchment of sea water is carried out through the open intake system. The pre-treatment includes sand and cartridge filtration, as well as chemical dosages.
