extraordinary cultural value

ACCIONA has installed a site of extraordinary cultural value in Gran Canaria, Spain

The Museum Cueva Pintada is part of a pre-Hispanic archaeological complex of several dozen houses and artificial caves. It is a site of extraordinary cultural value.

Since its inauguration, the Museo y Parque Arqueológico Cueva Pintada, which occupies an extension of almost 6,000 squared metres, has been working with an illumination composed by incandescent and fluorescent light sources.

The new lighting system installed by ACCIONA, with a power of 13.14 KW, has covered all the complex's enclosures and the benefits derived from this new lighting are multiple. On the one hand, there has been a substantial improvement in the conditions for preventive conservation of the archaeological site, as the harmful effects of traditional light on the delicate materials on display are avoided. From a museographic point of view, the newly inaugurated lighting system offers visitors a more direct and intense experience with the site space. Computer control allows different dynamic lighting environments to be created for different events.

In addition, the use of LED technology results in a dramatic increase in the technological efficiency and sustainability of the system, both in terms of energy savings and reduction of waste pollution, as the old 100-watt lamps have been replaced by 6-watt ones.
