INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Economic growth, social advancement and action against the climate emergency depend largely on investment in infrastructure, sustainable industrial development and technological progress. Today, about 1 billion people live more than 2 km from a roadway, 940 million live without electricity, and 663 million lack improved drinking water sources.
ACCIONA participates in the entire infrastructure construction value chain, from the identification of opportunity, design and execution, to the operation and maintenance of the constructed works, using the most advanced and innovative techniques.
Performance quality and safety are two of the criteria that maximize the company's value proposal in the development of large infrastructure projects and that differentiate it from other competitors in the construction field.
The construction of the AU$3.8 billion (€2.33 billion) M80 Ring Road project will incorporate the addition of 14 km of new lanes, 10 km of new and improved pedestrian and cycle lanes, 8 bridges, underpasses, new crossings, improved retaining walls, and urban design and landscaping works. These works will facilitate the removal of 19,000 vehicles per day from suburban roads every day.
HIGHLIGHTS
The project includes 14 kilometres of new lanes, retaining walls and urban design and landscaping works, as well as improved walking and cycling connections, and will involve the movement of almost two million cubic metres of earth, plus the planting of 4,000 trees. These initiatives not only seek to strengthen road infrastructure, but also to improve the urban environment and environmental sustainability of the region.
