The European mink is the Europe’s most endangered mammal, having seen its populations fall dramatically in recent years, partly as a consequence of the irruption of american mink.

One of the only three populations of european mink remaining in Europe is in Spain, extending itself through part of the Basque Country, Navarre, La Rioja, northern Soria and north-eastern Burgos, where their populations keeps decreasing.

ACCIONA has been collaborating actively since 2013 with the Foundation for Research in Ethology and Biodiversity (FIEB) on the Captive Breeding Project for european mink (Mustela lutreola)

ACCIONA ha colaborado en la ampliación y mejora de las instalaciones, que ha dotado al centro de investigación de una mayor capacidad para el almacenamiento, estudio y monitorización de esta especie.

ACCIONA has collaborated in extending and improving the facilities, considerably increasing the facility's size per individual as well as the water pool each individual has and closed-circuit cameras and sensors that allows the monitoring of the individuals 24 hours a day.

This project is carried out with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the collaboration of ACCIONA.
