INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Economic growth, social advancement and action against the climate emergency depend largely on investment in infrastructure, sustainable industrial development and technological progress. Today, about 1 billion people live more than 2 km from a roadway, 940 million live without electricity, and 663 million lack improved drinking water sources.
ACCIONA participates in the entire infrastructure construction value chain, from the identification of opportunity, design and execution, to the operation and maintenance of the constructed works, using the most advanced and innovative techniques.
Performance quality and safety are two of the criteria that maximize the company's value proposal in the development of large infrastructure projects and that differentiate it from other competitors in the construction field.
The Broadway Subway extension will run below a major arterial route for the city and the second largest business corridor in the province. It is flanked by residential areas, schools, the city hall, and Vancouver’s largest hospital. Once in service, the trip from VCC–Clark Station to Arbutus Station will take 11 minutes, saving the average transit commuter almost 30 minutes a day.
The extension connects to the end of an existing elevated track at VCC–Clark station, with 700 m of elevated guideway before continuing through a tunnel approximately 5 km long beneath Broadway Street to a terminus at Arbutus Street.
The six new underground stations will connect communities and neighborhoods to make it easier and more affordable to live, work, and access services along the Broadway Corridor. These stations will be fully integrated with existing bus services and other SkyTrain lines across Vancouver.
