AIM Roads Inc., a Canadian subsidiary of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada and part of the global ACCIONA group, is seeking a proactive and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our Operations and Maintenance team.This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of areas including labour relations, employee engagement, recruitment, training and development, HR administration, and compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with operational leaders, employees, and the broader ACCIONA HR team to ensure a positive and compliant workplace environment.
Job Description
- Lead the interpretation, administration, and implementation of collective bargaining agreements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for union representatives and facilitate effective labour-management relationships.
- Support and guide grievance and arbitration processes, ensuring timelines and procedures are followed.
- Provide strategic labour relations advice to management, including during collective bargaining negotiations.
- Monitor trends in the labour market and union environment to anticipate and address potential challenges.
- Address employee concerns and provide guidance on policy interpretation, workplace issues, and employment standards.
- Collaborate with management on workforce planning, retention strategies, and organizational development.
- Contribute to the development of HR policies, training programs, and change management initiatives.
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and reference checks.
- Present and negotiate offer letters in alignment with internal compensation guidelines.
- Lead onboarding processes to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
- Prepare and process HR documents, including employment contracts, change forms, etc.
- Oversee salary and benefits administration
- Maintain and manage confidential employee records and HR databases.
- Support the preparation of HR and payroll documentation as required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation and company standards.
- Participate in HR reporting and data analysis.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies.
- Manage employee data, recruitment, performance status and training using the Human Resources Information system (HRIS).
- Take on additional duties as required to support HR and operational goals
The expected salary range for this position is $110,000 to $125,000 per year. The base pay may vary based on the candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent amount of experience
- Minimum of 8 years’ progressive HR experience, with a focus on labour relations and unionized environments
- Experience supporting operations and maintenance or construction sectors is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Canadian labour laws, collective agreements, and grievance procedures
- Demonstrated experience with sound judgment in sensitive negotiations
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- High level of discretion and professionalism in dealing with confidential information
