LIFE PRISTINE, focuses on removing emerging contaminants such as PFAS, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, toxins, antibiotic resistance genes, and microplastics, in drinking and wastewater. For this, the project proposes a solution that integrates different technologies, including adsorption processes, membrane filtration, advanced oxidation processes and artificial intelligence tools, in order to eliminate at least 80% of contaminants of emerging concern in wastewater and drinking water, with a 30% operational improvement.
The LIFE PRISTINE project, coordinated by ACCIONA, is supported by the European Union through the LIFE Funding Program for the environment and climate action, and count on the participation of EURECAT, NX Filtration, Xylem Services and the Regional Entity for Wastewater Sanitation and Treatment in Murcia (ESAMUR), in addition to the support of the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium (CABB). The project started in August 2022 and will last for 4 years.
